NEW Analog and Communication Modules
Two new analog expansion I/O modules are now available. With fast conversion times and 16-bit resolution, these modules allow you to configure as many as 56 analog I/Os, while gaining increased system throughput. And with 56 available PID loops, you get all the PID control you need. Optional communication modules are also available enabling you to configure up to seven serial devices with your MicroSmart Pentra. Now you can connect your HMI, PC, barcode reader, RFID equipment, printer and more. Both communication and analog modules easily snap-on to the right side of MicroSmart CPU modules without needing extra cables or requiring complex wiring.

For added convenience, the same expansion I/O modules and accessories can be used on both the MicroSmart and MicroSmart Pentra controllers. In fact, both controllers also share the same architecture, instruction set and programming software. Micro PLCs MicroSmart


IDEC MicroSmart series PLC is the next generation of programmable logic controller. These flexible, adaptable PLCs are as compact as they are powerful, so you can create the system you need without increasing your space requirements or your budget.

MicroSmart CPUs are available with built-in 10, 16, and 24 I/O All-In-One units, and 20 and 40 I/O slim style models.

Each MicroSmart CPU is designed in a compact and rugged housing. Every MicroSmart module meets IDEC strict quality standards and complies with all major international standards; cULus, CE, TUV, and Lloyds.

Each CPU is equipped with a standard power supply circuit, four high-speed counters, analog potentiometer, and password protection.

The Slim type and the 24 I/O All-in-one CPU can be expanded with the many choices of expansion modules. There are 20 modules available including four analog I/O modules, an AS-interface master communication module, and our most recent addition to the MicroSmart family, the 8-pt AC input module. In addition, 24V DC All-in-one CPUs are now available. Depending upon the CPU, you can create a system with as many as 264 I/Os.

Each MicroSmart module can be enhanced with a memory cartridge for easy maintenance, a real-time clock and calendar cartridge for real time applications, and an RS-485/RS-232 communications adapter. These adapters allow the MicroSmart CPU to data link to the MicroSmart or other IDEC PLCs, connect to operator interfaces, printers, barcode readers, or other RS-232 devices such as modems for remote communication.

MicroSmart PLCs are programmable with WindLDR, IDEC's intuitive ladder logic software. The current WindLDR version 5.03 has improved features such as a split ladder window for easy navigation, improved tag name editor and rung comment search. Small/Medium PLCs OpenNet Controller


IDEC introduces a true Open Architecture PLC: the OpenNet Controller (ONC). This unique PLC is compatible with three major industrial buses, DeviceNet, Interbus-S and LonWorks. Expanding your I/O and existing network, or designing a new system to work hand-in-hand with an existing one is now free of compatibility issues. This open network architecture gives users the control to design systems that are more powerful, cost less and provide flexibility as network technologies change.

The ONC is a high performance PLC with 16K words user program capacity. The ONC allows the user to store, transfer or upgrade the program memory using a miniature flash card. The ONC can handle up to digital 480 I/O, 42 Analog I/O. The system also allows 512 remote I/O using the Interbus-S network.

IDEC's OpenNet Controller offers superior communication flexibility. The ONC comes standard with two RS232 ports, making connections to any RS232C equipment hassle-free. Direct modem dial-up and pager applications are easy, through the built-in Hayes "AT" command set. The CPU is also built with 1 RS485 port and a 10 KHz quadrature High Speed Counter.

The OpenNet Controller is enhanced with 65 advanced instructions including xy conversion, square root and data block move. Multiple PID algorithms make the ONC an exceptional Controller. The ONC has all the features needed in a PLC such as, Real Time Clock, Password protection and catch input functions.
